Not showing transparent images?

My computer broke, and right now, I have to use my dad's computer. And for some reason, pictures that have a transparent background are showing up with a background. Usually grey or black. Do you guys know what's wrong?

well, don't all pictures need a background? I mean like you can't have no colour as there is always a colour. But when you say transparent what do you mean? what colour is it meant to be?

The color of whatever is behind it. Like you avatar, it doesn't really have a background. It's a transparent background. I think. ;p

It's fairly new I think. But it doesn't matter anymore, I got a new computer today, finally.
